Primary and secondary education in Prescott is overseen
by the Prescott Unified School District, which consists of eight schools: four elementary,
grades K-5; one "traditional" elementary, grades K-6; two middle schools,
grades 6-8; and one high school. Total enrollment is approximately 5100 students.
Kindergarten classes average 21 students per class, elementary school classes average
27.
Also available are two charter schools, Franklin Phonetic Primary School (grades
K-3; 928.771.0033) and Skyview School (grades K-8; 928.776.1730). Opening soon is
Mountain Oak Charter School.
Sacred Heart School; (928)445-2621 offers classes for grades K-8 as does Christian
Academy of Prescott; (928)445-2565.
Post-secondary educational opportunities are available at Yavapai Community College,
the liberal arts Prescott College, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Primary and secondary
The Prescott Unified School District offers an excellent basic curriculum,
enhanced by several special programs including gifted education, special education,
creative arts, Title I reading, computer education, music education, Math Counts
and nature education.
For children with special needs, testing is completed and an individual education
program is implemented.
Open enrollment is available each April for the upcoming school year. This allows
parents or guardians to enroll students in a Prescott school of choice, subject to
availability.
Classes begin in late August and end in early June.

Post-secondary
Yavapai Community College offers Elderhostel programs, distance learning,
and extension services from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.
