There are no shortage of fine restaurants in Prescott, although if your dining preferences lean toward the eclectic, you make need to drive to Phoenix for dinner. Steak, seafood and "American" fare are well represented, and there are many excellent Mexican and Chinese food restaurants to choose from. Two Italian restaurants are available, and both of them are generally highly regarded. As we delve deeper into ethnic dining, the choices become thin. There is only one place in town to enjoy Japanese food and sushi; likewise East Indian cuisine, but both restaurants serve first-class meals. The sole Thai restaurant is take-out only, and the food quality has been uneven. There is no other international cuisine in town. Vegetarians do not have a restaurant of their own, but several establishments have very good veggie entrees as part of their regular menu. Vegans - well, you may want to just brown bag it! The outdoor Cantinas with "Limbs Akimbo" were memorable occasions. Melissa, Kathleen and the other folks behind the bar I will never forget and I hope they're still there when I return to Prescott for good. Cortez 445-4044 5 STARS wonderful thanksgiving dinners! you should try it, very intimate and not too expensive. The shrimp is great!!! Nick & Maddie's 316 W. Goodwin St. 445-9255  5 STARS. Prescott wouldn't be the same without this couple's gracious service and generous servings. great sandwiches The Palace 120 S Montezuma 541-1996  5 STARS.  The food was great, the staff friendly the prices right. I even bought a shirt! Dave's a great host, food (we had lunch) excellent, and service best I've had anywhere in ages. Between us we had the corn chowder, a grilled chicken salad and a pizza. Not a single disappointment. I'm ready to fly back from Seattle for dinner. Dave, if you want an opinion, turn those former cribs back into hotel rooms.  GREAT FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE  Excellent but lots of "bar" echoes. I can't wait for our permenant return to Prescott. Hwy. 69, #35 776-4602  5 STARS.  The food is the best in town.......homestyle cooking, including 16" pancakes! And the service can not be topped. If you want the best, personal service, be sure and ask for John.....devoted server with a personality. If your hungry eat here! The food is always fresh, the service is always good, and the portions are always HUGE! Sher and I had breakfast and lunch on our recent home buying trip. Both meals meals wrer great!! INDIA Taj Majal 1781 E. Hwy. 69 445-5752  5 STARS.  We love this place so much, we eat there about 3 x a week. Paul Gill is the best.  Food is superb! Best server is East Indian by the name of Charles and he gave us a superb service and was very helpful in explaining the unique dishes this place has to offer. If this is the genuine article, this should become a chain of restaurants with this young server in it's immediate future! ITALIAN Genovese's Italian Ristorante 217 W Gurley  541-9089  4 STARS.  Wonderful food! Vampire safe for at least a month. Excellent! My favorite place to meet for lunch. Crowded, but with such good food that is to be expected!  The best Italian food that we have ever had. Service was excellent and the live opra was wonderful.  La Bruzza's Italian Ristorante 1480 Iron Springs Rd. 778-1757  4 STARS.  The food was excellent and the service was incredible. It was the best Italian food my husband and I have had. JAPANESE Fujiyama Japanese Restaurant & Sushi 1781E Hwy 69 776-8659 5 STARS Excellent Sushi Kino-san is the best Sushi chef in Northern Arizona. His family is gracious and the service is excellent. MEDITERRANEAN Zuma's 124 N Montezuna 541-1400 5 STARS Creative and interesting food. Clam and mussel appetiser to die for. Friendly Portobello Mushroom Pasta is great. MEXICAN El Chaparral Mexican Restaurant 628 Miller Valley Rd. 445-8447  4 STARS.  The best mexican food available, with a reasonable price. The best part is sign up with Northlink and you receive free meals for a year!!!!! El Charro 120 N Montezuma 445-7130  5 STARS. Best Mexican Food in Town...without a doubt! Pancho's Place 1459 W. Gurley 771-9505  5 STARS.  Best carnitas in town, now available in tortas (delicious Mexican sandwich). Just added to menu.  Pancho's has the best complimentary chips and salsa with their meals. Chips are crispy, light and usually served warmed with a chunky spicy, but not-too-spicy-for-me salsa. Service is always friendly and efficient
